While my master’s degree in Positive Psychology doesn’t make me a psychologist, it reflects my passion for understanding happiness and wellbeing, and my interest in the mind, mental health and positive body image, which are subjects close to home.
This degree is more about academic study than professional practice, allowing me to explore topics like motivation, resilience, happiness, mindfulness and what it means to live a good life.
Purpose of this site
This site serves as a platform to share my learnings, experiences, and personal applications of positive psychology and self-development, as well as looking at the wider topics of happiness, well-being, mental health, lifestyle and well-being, not just for adults but for children too.
It’s a passion project that combines my love for writing and wellbeing, aimed at helping others and furthering my research in these fields.
In mid-life, I asked myself what truly makes me happy and where I want to focus my time.
This website marks the beginning of my journey to document my thoughts and insights, fuelled by research, experimentation, and feedback.
Positive Psychology
Positive psychology offers a unique perspective on life, focusing on the science of happiness amidst life’s challenges. While it doesn’t ignore life’s complexities or the darker moments, it adds valuable insights into living well.
Critically, positive psychology is questioned for its individualistic focus, often neglecting broader social and cultural contexts. This criticism drives ongoing debate and reflection within the field.
The aim of this site is to include a mixture of posts on positive psychology, self-development, self-help, and all the other areas well-being that have interested me for many decades, together with insights from my own personal journey.
A disclaimer
This content is written through the lens of someone who has spent half a century on this planet, so anyone reading this who doesn’t remember the days of the Rubix cubes, black and white televisions or the carefree days of life before the internet might not relate so well. Or maybe you will.
I’m also aware of the privilege I have by being white, able-bodied and living in the UK. I do not live in a country at war, I am not forced to live hand to mouth like many others in the world. I have a roof over my head and all the luxuries that come with living in the developed part of the world.
I am aware that so many people are less fortunate. I can attempt to understand their lives, but I cannot speak for them. Theirs is their own story to tell. This website shares aspects of mine, acknowledging the limitations of my perspective.
